Watch TV Online - Actual TV Networks for the Web
There are plenty of aggregators, mash-ups, and user-generated video sites on the Internet. However I was interested
in original professional TV shows. Here is what I found.
Revision3 (http://revision3.com/)
Arguably Revision3 is the first media company to create, produce and broadcast original quality TV shows.
Some of the recent (at the moment of writing) shows are: Tekzilla, Scam School,iFanboy, Hak5.
Obviously they target primarily people like me, interested in technology and the web.
Revision3 allows users to subscribe to shows using RSS so updates show up in a news reader as they happen, and also download movie files in various quality levels, drom Quicktime HD to video for iPod.
Hulu (http://www.hulu.com/)
This US service allows you to watch their TV programs online, rather then on a TV. It was one of the first to to this.
Now their networks are creating their own sites to stream TV shows online.
ABC iView service (http://www.abc.net.au/tv/iview/)
This is an Australian ABC child. At iView they stream TV shows and news, allowing to catch up and watch missed episodes.
To stream in the web browser requires a good connection, ADSL2+ (10-20mbps) to watch in high quality, but most sites degrade very well to slower connections like ADSL (1.5mbps and 512kbps).
